TM-Tube was a video-sharing website launched in March 2008. The site was very similar to YouTube, including the name; users could record videos of TrackMania and ShootMania and upload it to the site for anyone to view.
Usage[]
Like most video sharing sites, TM-Tube allowed its users to rate and share videos, give feedback through comments, and create playlists. Videos could also be shared through social media. Unlike most video sharing sites, TM-Tube provided a centralized platform for videos about TrackMania and ShootMania without any external content.
History[]
Before TM-Tube, there was a TrackMania video portal called, "Movies Life," but that website was closed down. As a result, x2x founded TM-Tube, which was originally a one-man project. The site had over 2,000 videos uploaded within just a few weeks of its launch. It was flooded with so much heavy traffic that it had to be shut down within its first month. With the help of Benjisite and Focus, the site was eventually fixed and reopened a week later.
For a long time, TM-Tube was the most popular media sharing page for Trackmania players. The site was ahead of its time, allowing for 60fps video and h.264 encoding before it became popular on sites like YouTube. Not only did TM-Tube serve as a media hub, but also as a meeting point for many creatives in the community.
Over the years the site began to be overrun by bot spam. And so the site shut down in 2015.
In a collaboration with x2x, the crew of ManiaExchange relaunched the site as an archive site in April 2018. The site no longer has the ability to upload videos, but you can watch them.
Due to lack of disk space, the crew of ManiaExchange took most of the archive offline in 2021. The website is there, but individual videos will only be brought back upon request.
